About Us
History
of McCall’s
My family entered the
nursery business in 1948. My grandparents,
Joe & Carrie McCall
along with my father, Don McCall, built and
established Las Palmas Nursery in Southeast
Fresno.
In 1960 my father, Don McCall, left his
position with the City of Fresno-Parks Department
and entered into business with his parents.
Having an interest in growing plants he decided
to lease four acres of land just south of
the nursery. Las Palmas Nursery was established
to supply local landscape contractors and
to grow material for our own requirements.
In 1976, more land was
needed to grow on, so we purchased 12.5
acres on East Olive
Avenue. Our family then made a difficult
decision and sold Las Palmas Nursery allowing
us to focus on producing plant material for
the wholesale market. Shortly after, McCall’s
Nurseries, inc. was established. Since 1978
we have grown to sixty acres and have sixty
full time employees.
My father has now retired. He enjoys woodworking,
traveling and keeping up with the changes
of the nursery.
Family members involved with the nursery
operations are my sister Lisa, my oldest
son, Brian and my middle son, Darren.
Please stop by and tour
our nursery. You can set up an appointment
with one of our
sales representative’s
for a tour of our 60 acres of plant material.
Our family and employees would like to take
this opportunity to Thank You, our customers,
for all of your support through the years.
It is our goal to continue to meet your needs
with quality plant material and good dependable
service for years to come.
Sincerely,
Steve McCall
